Francie Sullivan was raised in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, but her family has been in Shasta County since the early 1900's. She and her husband, Dick Roseberry, have lived here for most of the past forty years.
Councilor Sullivan was elected to the City Council in November 2010 to a four-year term. In December 2011, Councilor Sullivan was appointed to a one-year term as Mayor Pro Tempore, and will continue as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2013.
Previously, Councilor Sullivan served as a Shasta County Supervisor. During her tenure the county and city of Redding formed a joint venture to manage the landfill, developed an Enterprise Zone, and supported a pilot project for what is now the Smart Center - a one-stop shop for people looking for job opportunities. She represented California local government in a three-state economic recovery effort to help offset the impact of changes in management of federal lands.
Councilor Sullivan is Past President of the Redding Area League of Women Voters, Past President of the Superior California Economic Development District, and former Director of the Shasta County Arts Council. She is a member of the Shasta County Farm Bureau, Fall River-Big Valley Cattlemen's Association, American Legion Auxiliary, board member of Renaissance Redding, founding cabinet member of The Women's Fund, board member of the Women's Refuge, and long time member of Friends of the Library.
Her passion is to see Redding develop into the best place to live and work. Maintaining and expanding the businesses already here are priorities as are supporting local agriculture, locally grown food, and complete streets which make it possible for people to move safely in all modes of transportation.
Liaison Assignments: For 2013, Councilor Sullivan acts as City Council liaison to the Community Services and Fire Departments, the Community Services Advisory Commission, the Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee, Shasta Public Library Citizens' Advisory Committee, and is alternate to both the Air Pollution Control Board and Shasta Regional Transportation Agency's RABA representative. As do all the Council Members, Councilor Sullivan serves on the Redding Area Bus Authority Board, Redding Capital Services Corporation, Redding Housing Authority Commission, Redding Joint Powers Financing Authority, the Redding Municipal Library Board, and the Successor Agency to the Redding Redevelopment Agency.
