The Finance Division is responsible for maintaining the accounting systems, including the general accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll systems for the City of Redding and its related entities; administering the City's debt; administering the internal and external auditing process; assisting the City Manager in developing, monitoring and administering the City's annual budget; coordinating long range financial planning; and assisting other divisions with special projects relating to financial matters where appropriate.
Mission:
The Finance Division's mission is to manage and safeguard the City's resources, facilitate the effective and efficient use of City resources, provide high quality financial information and support services for decision makers and protect and enhance the City's financial well-being.
The Finance Division will accomplish its mission by providing timely professional service, implementing new practices to become more efficient in financial matters and developing partnerships with other departments and the community. The Division will encourage its employees to work independently while functioning as a team. It will also encourage the professional and personal growth of its employees. The Division will recognize the City as a complete organization and work toward the good of the organization as a whole. The Finance Division will provide the highest possible quality of services to our customers (both City staff and outside customers). It is the goal of the Finance Division to perform all duties in the most effective and efficient manner possible, while maintaining adequate internal controls.

Annual Audit:
For the past 18 years the City of Redding has received the Government Finance Officers Association Awards for excellence in Comprehensive Annual Finance Reporting (CAFR). Budget:
The FY 1999-2001 budget represented the City's first true biennial budget. The City changed to a biennial budget process in FY 1999/2000.
