Memorial Flag Program

American Flag Flying

When a member of the Fire Service or a Veteran of the United States Armed Services loses their life, the family of the deceased is usually presented with a United States Flag.  Generally, this flag has never been raised and flown.

The Memorial Flag Program will give individuals an opportunity to have their flags raised and flown in honor of their loved ones.

The Memorial Flag Program may serve as closure for a family in mourning.

This program also gives the Redding Fire Department an opportunity to pay tribute to our brothers and sisters in the Fire Service and to Veterans in the Armed Services.

The flag will be flown at Redding Fire Station 8 for approximately one month.  The flag owner will be notified when the flag is to be raised and again when it is to be lowered.  This will allow the individual to be present if they so wish.  They will then have the option to have the flag returned to them or to have the flag appropriately disposed of.   The information will be placed on a plaque and displayed at the location where the flag was flown.

For more information please contact the Redding Fire Department at 225-4141 and ask about the Memorial Flag Program.
