The
Administration Division coordinates support
services for all divisions of the Redding Fire
Department. Division staffing includes the Fire
Chief, and three support personnel. Various
support functions, including policy development
and maintenance, recruitment, and budget preparation
and management, are carried out by the Administration
Division.
MUTUAL/AUTOMATIC AID AGREEMENTS
The Department strives to continually participate in the Statewide Mutual Aid System. We anchor this effort with a strong commitment to mutual aid on the local level. On the Statewide level, the Department operates one specially equipped fire engine under agreement with the Governor's Office of Emergency Services.
The Department also maintains mutual/automatic aid agreements with the Shasta County Fire Department and CAL Fire. The Automatic Aid agreement is a long standing agreement with the Shasta County Fire Department. Under this agreement, the Department responds automatically on a year round basis to emergencies within the County, but adjacent to the City, and to emergencies in County islands. The Department receives an annual compensation for this service. The Mutual Threat Zone agreement is a vital agreement which enables both the Department and CAL Fire to maximize resource utilization on wildland fire incidents within the City and surrounding County areas. Through this agreement the Department is able to better address the significant wildland urban interface and intermix potential within the City.

SHASCOM (SHASTA AREA
SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY)

SHASCOM is a joint powers agency which was formed
to provide consolidated communications center
services to fire, medical, and law enforcement
agencies throughout Shasta County. Current participants

of Redding Police Department, and Shasta County
Sheriff's Department. As ambulance providers,
American Medical Response (AMR), Redding Medical
Center and Mercy Medical Center, participate under
a contractual agreement.
Oversight for SHASCOM is provided via a four member
Board of Directors. Current membership consists
of the Redding City Manager as Chair, the County
Administrative Officer as Vice Chair, and the
Sheriff and Fire Chief as members.
