The Redding Fire Department Operations Division is responsible for the emergency response activities for the City of Redding and surrounding communities.
The Operations Division consists of:
1) 72 uniformed career personnel assigned to three alternating shifts (A/B/C)
2) 8 staffed strategically-distributed Fire Stations
3) Daily Operations consists of:
a) Structural Firefighting
b) Wildland Firefighting
c) Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF)
d) Emergency Medical Response
e) Hazardous Materials Emergency Response
f) Shore-Based Water Rescue
g) Various other needs brought on by a dynamically changing city
Several mutual and automatic aid response agreements exist; including a well-defined Mutual Threat Zone (MTZ) agreement with CalFire/Shasta Co Fire.
The Department also maintains cooperative agreements with the Regional Occupational Program and Shasta Community College.
