ABOUT THE POSITIONS


Listed below are part-time spring and summer job opportunities with Redding Community Services, Recreation Division. Summer positions will begin with training in May. Minimum age for any position is 16. Applicants younger than 18 years of age must submit a work permit application. All new employees may be subject to fingerprinting and drug/alcohol screen prior to appointment.

AQUATICS

  • CASHIER
  • FACILITY MAINTENANCE WORKER
  • (Recreation Leader)
    Minimum pay: $8.16 - $11.48/hour
    *Must possess current Standard First Aid, Community CPR certificates; and the ability to interact effectively with the public and City employees. Basic Water Rescue certificate highly desirable. Ability to work without immediate supervision, follow directions and be self motivated. Applicants need to be outgoing, fun, reliable and able to lead or implement activities and work with staff and customers.
  • LIFEGUARD
  • (Recreation Specialist)
    Minimum pay: $8.70 - $12.24/hour
    *Must possess current Standard First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Title 22 and Lifeguard Training certificates; and the ability to interact effectively with the public and City employees.
  • SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTOR
  • WATER SPORTS AND FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
  • (Recreation Instructor)
    Minimum pay: $10.52 - $14.81/hour
    *Must possess current Standard First Aid, CPR for Professional Rescuer, and WSI certificates; ability to instruct swim lessons according to American Red Cross standards; and the ability to interact effectively with the public and City employees. Lifeguard Training and Title 22 certificates highly desirable.

SUMMER DAY CAMP PROGRAMS

  • INSTRUCTOR
  • (Recreation Instructor)
    Hourly pay range: $10.52 - $14.81/hour
  • CREW LEADER
  • (Recreation Crew Leader)
    Hourly pay range: $9.58 - $13.48/hour
  • ASSISTANT
  • (Recreation Leader)
    Hourly pay range: $8.16 - $11.48/hour
    *Must possess the desire and ability to lead recreation activities of elementary age students in a structured day camp setting and the ability to interact effectively with the public.

ATHLETICS

  • COACH (Volleyball, Track, Golf)
  • CLINICIAN (All sports)
  • (Recreation Instructor)
    Minimum pay: $10.52 - $14.81/hour
    *Experience officiating or participating in applicable sport; desire to work with young athletes; possess enthusiasm for sports; ability to interact effectively with the public and communicate clearly with participants and adults.

  • UMPIRES (Softball) & REFEREES (Dodgeball)
  • (Recreation Leader)
    Hourly pay range: $8.16 - $11.48/hour
    *Experience officiating or participating in applicable sport; desire to work with young athletes; possess enthusiasm for sports; ability to interact effectively with the public and communicate clearly with participants and adults.

    Interested individuals must submit a City of Redding employment application to the Personnel Department, 777 Cypress Avenue, Redding, CA 96001 weekdays between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Applications must be typed or printed in ink.
