Welcome
to the City of Redding Personnel Department!
The Personnel Department is comprised of three divisions:
PERSONNEL:
The Personnel Division is responsible for the City's recruitment and selection process, labor relations, classification and compensation, payroll, affirmative action, health plan administration, retirement plan administration, maintenance of employee records, and employee training and development.
The City of Redding employs approximately 700 full-time employees and 300 part-time and temporary employees.
RISK MANAGEMENT:
The City of Redding is self-insured. Risk Management administers the City's Workers' Compensation and Liability programs. Risk Management also coordinates safety training for the City and manages other programs to reduce potential liabilities.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES:
The Volunteer Services Division originated in Redding's Police Department. The concept of encouraging our citizens to participate and assist in the workings of our local agency gained in popularity and has progressed throughout the City. These caring people volunteer their time and efforts by providing support for City staff. Their efforts are appreciated in every division.
MISSION AND GOALS:
The mission of the Department is to promote and maintain a high performance organization to best serve the citizenry by: recruiting, developing and retaining an outstanding, creative and diverse workforce to serve the needs of the community; cultivating an environment that encourages and empowers employees to continually strive for excellence; serving as a resource and providing support to City departments and City employees; assisting City personnel in identifying and measuring exposures to loss, negotiating insurance coverage and providing accurate insurance information to the public regarding special events; providing effective employee training programs; and providing a safe and healthful work environment for City employees and the public.
Our staff values supporting each other and working as a team, treating others with compassion and respect, honesty and accountability, positive attitudes, professionalism, and confidentiality.
