Household Hazardous Waste is accepted Thursday - Saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This service is not available to businesses. See the list below for limits.

We now accept latex and oil based paint from businesses, Tuesday - Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. Please call for more information.

Sharps, household batteries, fluorescent light tubes, and compact fluorescent light bulbs

are accepted Tuesday - Saturday; 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  For businesses, see pricing list at the bottom of this page.

NEW: Business generated universal wastes can now be brought to our facility. They are accepted Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 am to 4 pm, by appointment only.  Pricing for this service is listed at the end of the table below.

The following businesses are now accepting all types of household batteries from Shasta County residents for recycling at no charge. NOTE: This service is NOT available for business generated batteries or for lead-acid (car, motorcycle, lawn mower) batteries.

Orange Bag Recycling Program for Household Batteries

City of Redding residents can now recycle their used alkaline batteries in their blue curbside recycling cart by placing them in special orange ziplock bags that are available at several local businesses.  DO NOT return the filled bags to the business. 
  • Please seal the bags firmly.
  • Do not overfill bags.
  • Place INSIDE your blue curbside recycling cart for collection.
  • Do not place rechargeable or non-alkaline batteries into the bags.

City Hall - 777 Cypress Ave at the information desk in the front lobby
City of Redding Transfer Station - 2255 Abernathy Lane, administration office
Lowe's - 1200 E. Cypress
Top's Fresh Market - 3685 Eureka Way at the checkstands.
Walgreen's - 1775 Eureka Way
Walgreen's - 980 E. Cypress

The Household Hazardous Waste Facility is operated by the City of Redding.  This facilityserves all residents of Shasta County; including, the cities of Redding, Anderson, Shasta Lake and Unincorporated Shasta County.
