The Solid Waste Utility sponsors special events and programs throughout the year to promote recycling, offer seasonal recycling programs, or to provide community service. Below is a list of the regular events and the approximate month or date on which they occur. For more information on any of the listed events, contact the Solid Waste Utility at 224-6201 or email tsgroup@ci.redding.ca.us.
More information will become available closer to the event dates. You can also look for more detailed information in the quarterly WasteStream newsletter, which is enclosed in your City of Redding Utility bill.
 The photo at right is of phone books being ground into chips for composting. The City of Redding used the phone books collected in 2007 to make compost. Phone books were added to greenwaste mixtures and turned into compost. Remember to recycle your old phone directories as soon as the new ones arrive in July or August. Put them in your blue curbside recycling cart and we will recycle them into compost! |
